Currently, there are still many unknowns about the mechanism of this treatment and it is being studied in collaboration with several universities in Japan and abroad, but it has already been proven that this therapy is effective not only for root canal treatment but also for periodontal disease. (Figure 23)
If periodontal disease, which affects almost 80% of the world population, can be healed in the future, fewer teeth will have to be extracted and reliance on artificial materials such as dentures and dental implants will decrease.
Research has only just begun.
However, I hope that we dentists will make better use of the "natural benefit" of electricity, and that people will be able to bite down on food with their own teeth for as long as possible in the coming era of an aging society....
That is my hope!!
